Vice President of Community Living

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the overall management of the GSIL Community Living Department including oversight of Independent Living Services Coordination, Housing, Transportation programs, NH Spinal Cord Injury Association and Peer Groups. Specific responsibilities include staff supervision, identifying new funding opportunities, increase financial performance & consumer outcomes and program planning and evaluation.
 

Successful candidate will have a minimum of five years senior management experience in human services, business or government including staff and program management; data collection and analysis; grant/report writing and community focused program development. Have a strong track record in improving financial performance and creating outstanding consumer outcomes. Candidate must have working knowledge of federal and state disability programs and services, a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate the philosophy and principles of independent living, experience with Microsoft Office and database programs and solid organizational skills. Bachelor’s Degree from recognized college or university with major study in human services, government, business or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) Program Manager

GSIL is seeking a detail-oriented individual to provide work incentives assistance services to SSDI/SSI beneficiaries and to receive and compile information for recipients of services for WIPA project data collection and grant reporting. Responsibilities include maintaining collaboration with the Social Security Administration staff and other agencies providing services to individuals with disabilities. A successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, be highly organized, possess working knowledge of SSDI/SSI disability and public assistance programs and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint and data base management. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business, human services or education and 3 years supervisory and program development experience is required. Must be able to meet federal security clearance levels. Full time: Monday–Friday (37.5 hrs/wk). Staff Interpreter (Full Time)

GSIL seeks a Staff Interpreter to join its team. As the organization’s Staff Interpreter, this person would provide interpreting services for Deaf and Hearing staff, as well as interpreter referral when needed. This position requires that the interpreter provide written English-to-Sign and Sign-to-English interpreting services for staff and consumers as requested as well as working with other staff to grow and develop this program and assist in providing existing services to consumers. Maintain close liaison with Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents through state and national organizations (NHRID, RID, NHAD, SHHH) Qualifications include 2+ years experience working within the deaf community and with the hard of hearing consumer; current certification or license or qualifications to become certified as an interpreter of the deaf required; capability of travel throughout the State; experience working in the medical setting highly desirable. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Service, Education of the Deaf, or related experience in deafness preferred. Proficiency in American Sign Language required. On-Call Driver (Part Time)

Granite State Independent Living seeks part time – on call drivers to join its team. These positions include transporting persons with disabilities via wheelchair accessible vehicles to social activities, meetings and events. Day, evening and weekend hours available. Pay starting at $10.00/hr. Company paid training. NH driver’s license, good driving record and criminal background check required. Experience driving a commercial vehicle preferred. Peer Group Organizer - Two Openings for Plymouth and Woodsville, NH

Granite State Independent Living is seeking enthusiastic person(s) to fill the position of Peer Group Organizer for Plymouth and Woodsville. One person could cover both areas.  Successful candidate(s) will have solid oral and written communication skills and ability to organize and facilitate meetings. Position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating monthly Peer Group meetings for persons with disabilities consisting of education, information and discussion. Duties include meeting planning & facilitation and outreach to persons with disabilities living in Plymouth and Woodsville and surrounding towns. Great opportunity to work with GSIL and share experiences, ideas and future opportunities. Persons with disabilities encouraged to apply.
