Carol Conforti-Adams

After a life-changing spinal cord injury, Carol was determined to continue contributing to the community, enriching people’s lives. Leveraging her professional experience in health, education, and human services, she created a nonprofit organization in 2006 called Sunset Hill Educational Institute (SHEI). SHEI offers transitional life and career skills to youth, and in 2012, added the Wheelchair Health in Motion (WHIM) program for people with disabilities.

In 2021, SHEI expanded to provide a barrier-free outdoor facility and developed a Nature’s Way program ‘’Connect, Nourish, and Grow’’, using nature to understand resiliency and wellness skills, and now is being taught by trained WHIM peer-leaders.

Carol strongly believes ‘’having a purpose, having a plan, and being positive allows one to get up in the morning. Along with keeping a growth-mindset, understanding change is consistent, it’s how one decides to proceed that determines a quality of life’’ Learn more about SHEI here: www.sheinh.org
